Whenever you have an idea
Inside Robinhood there was a rule for ideas that felt too much like a bank: “put a cat on it” — make it a little bit more fun. Not a slogan on a poster. A ritual co-workers actually said to each other.
In 2015 the ritual got its biggest canvas. Muralist Nigel Sussman brainstormed with the founders — the company name’s imagery plus the team’s love of cats — and hand-painted 69 feet of Robin Hood cats across the Palo Alto office in 9 days.
It never stopped at the walls: every conference room had cat art, new hires got the figurines pointed out on day one, and the app itself hid a cat that winks when you swipe to the end of your cards.
